"Most likely, you think that we hated the elephant, The golden toad, the thylacine and all variations of whale harpooned or hacked into extinction.

It must seem like we sought to leave you nothing but benzene, mercury, the stomachs of seagulls rippled with jet fuel and plastic."

Artist Statement

There is no singular right way of joining the universal effort in raising awareness of the current global environmental devastation. As a result of spending most of our time inside buildings, we have disconnected ourselves from nature. Our living and working spaces are sterile and lightless. With this continuous separation, we fell into the mindset of superiority.

By reintroducing bioforms in an unsuspecting way, I invite the viewer to re-examine the world with a newfound curiosity and a new perspective. Everything around is part of a fragile system and my sculptural works are there to incite this realisation. The array of colours used, help remind us of the irreplaceable variety, which is right around the corner, if only we choose to reconnect and protect it.

My ultimate objective is to help bridge the gap in the knowledge that we are not independent of nature but rather rely greatly on it in many ways, which we do not fully take the time to appreciate. My digital collage work is a subtle and playful reminder that nature is not limitless and we pose the risk of seeing irreversible losses if we do not confront our own agency.
