Artist Statement

If someone lied to you once, would you trust them? Twice? Three times? Definitely not. So why are we putting so much trust in our government?

The body of work presented deals with the idea of conspiracy theories while also exposing the things that are wrong in this world such as political/global issues from a conspiracy theorists’ point of view. My practice is comprised of digital images that are created on a drawing tablet and are designed to provoke thought. This work invites the viewer to question and give their own opinion on the issues that I raise throughout my work such as the controversial 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing to the brutal mind control experiments that were performed on unwitting citizens.

Conspiracy theories are considered far-fetched by some but serve as a critical way of thinking to others. This work encourages the viewer to dig deep into the mind of a conspiracy theorist to try and understand their way of thinking even if they come off as “crazy”. It is said the CIA came up with the word “conspiracy theory” to disqualify those who questioned the official version of the John F. Kennedy assassination. Why would the government want to turn people’s attention away from this topic? Why would the CIA want to come up with a term to disqualify people that questioned things? These are the types of questions my work brings up.
