Plastic waste. It’s everywhere. Every beach. Every Ocean. Every creek.
Every river. It’s now even in the water that you drink. I know, right?
Did you know that in just the North Pacific Ocean alone, there are 6 times more plastic debris than Plankton? That we have an island in the middle, called the Great Pacific Garbage patch, composed mostly of plastic, the size of India, Mexico and Europe combined? 10% of the plastic that we use yearly ends up in our oceans, in places like this. That’s the equivalent of 700 billion plastic bottles! Water makes up two thirds of the surface of the earth, and over half of our body weight and yet still, there is something about the movements of our waters that gives off a sense of calm. But, we risk losing that calmness and beauty due to our pollution. Day by day our oceans are becoming more and more threatened by our activities, and we can stop this, no matter how small or big our effort is. A plastic Oceanum Replenti is designed to evoke an emotional response to the devastating effects on our Ocean through pollution – to stop and think about the way our human development is effecting the ocean and the life it supports.
