Artist Statement

These two digital collages and one animation is my take on portraying the human body as inanimate. Showing there most vulnerable sides but still portraying them as objects. Beginning with a baby and to adult, this showing a theme of innocence taken away. Each of these pieces I see in some way as self-portraits as the story behind each picture has been inspired by an experience I have had myself. And show the story how a young girls fear of missing out that soon became a sex addiction. Although these pieces could be taken as a stance against female objectification from peers or the media, the way that I personally feel is this work is about is the way I personally see and objectify myself and is all autobiographical. The first piece “my mums sixteenth birthday” is inspired by a picture of me as a one year old. The second piece “I’d suck the farts from that” and the third piece “change” also both inspired by page three girls and both set against pictures I had taken at a fairground.
